Homegrown Holiday Cheer: Bachman’s Poinsettias
December 4, 2024
Bring home holiday cheer with Bachman’s-grown poinsettias!
Every year, Bachman’s cultivates approximately 65,000 poinsettias at our growing facility in Lakeville, Minnesota. From petite 2-inch miniatures to stunning 4-foot poinsettia trees, Bachman’s offers over 40 varieties of these iconic holiday plants. Our skilled horticulturists begin cultivating these vibrant blooms as early as May, which ensures they reach peak color just in time for the Christmas season.
A Timeless Tradition
The poinsettia, a native plant to Mexico, was introduced to the United States in the mid-1800s. By the 1920s, it had become a beloved holiday symbol. Bachman’s has been growing these festive flowers since the 1930s, continuously refining our cultivation techniques to produce the perfect poinsettia.
Beyond the Classic Red
While classic red poinsettias remain a popular choice, Bachman’s offers a range of unique varieties to suit every style. Our hand-painted “fantasy” poinsettias, available in shimmering shades of blue, purple, gold, and snow-dusted, add a touch of magic to any holiday decor.
Tips for a Long-Lasting Poinsettia
To ensure your poinsettia thrives throughout the holiday season and beyond, follow these simple care tips:
– Ideal Temperature: Maintain a room temperature between 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
– Bright, Indirect Light: Place your poinsettia in a well-lit room, avoiding direct sunlight.
– Consistent Watering: Water your plant regularly, keeping the soil moist but not soggy.
Happy Holidays from Bachman’s!
