How to Make a Waffle Board

Around here, brunch can be a bit of a tug-of-war: half the family wants something sweet, like blueberry pancakes or syrup-drenched French toast, and the other half wants a savory egg bake or Eggs Benedict. Enter the waffle board — scrumptious and infinitely customizable!

Putting together an awesome waffle board is as easy as making (or toasting up) a batch of waffles and setting them out with your family’s favorite toppings. For all the reasons mentioned above, we like a wide variety of textures, colors and flavors. Think fresh or stewed fruit, crunchy nuts, soft cheeses, chewy and deliciously salty bacon and sweet jams and sauces (we’ve got a full list below for you).

The best part is watching your family build their own waffles — It’s like a personality test. The health conscious S.O. might go for wholesome ricotta and fresh berries. The kid with the sweet tooth will build a tower of Nutella, bananas and whipped cream. The mini gourmand will create a savory masterpiece with a fried egg, bacon, toasted walnuts, the tiniest bit of maple syrup and a chiffonade of basil for color. And you, what will you put on your waffle?
