Last Word

If you like your drinks bold and bright, we’d like to introduce you to the Last Word. It’s a cocktail bursting at the seams with big, complex flavors, and it glows with a dazzling pale green color — like a refreshing limeade spiked with spirits. The strong herbal notes from the Chartreuse give it a tonic-like feel, making it a perfect little drink for spring.

But make no mistake: This drink is boozy. The Last Word is a Prohibition-era cocktail that’s made with gin, Chartreuse and maraschino liqueur, all brightened with lime juice. We finish ours with Luxardo maraschino cherries for a pop of sweetness, and tart (and pretty) lime twists. Each liquor adds an important, bold flavor to this drink, giving it structure and depth, and the light cherry liqueur and cherry garnish make perfect complements for the strong spirits.

The Last Word fell out of favor in the 1940s and disappeared from the cocktail lexicon almost entirely until it was rediscovered in the early 2000s. We’re glad this vibrant drink is back on the scene, and we’re raising our glasses to it being in favor for years to come.
