Sonoran Hot Dog

The Sonoran is a style of hot dog that originated in Hermosillo, the capital of the Mexican state of Sonora. Traditionally, it’s a bacon-wrapped hot dog grilled and nestled in a bolillo-style bun and decorated with pinto beans, onions, tomatoes and a smattering of additional condiments, like mayo, mustard and jalapeño salsa.

The beauty of the Sonoran is, like the regular hot dog, you can really make it all your own. Our semi-spicy twist includes yellow mustard, diced white onions and tomatoes as well as a mild salsa verde. We can’t think of a better way to shake up an average backyard cookout than with one of these bad boys. It’s a deliciously bold choice that’s sure to win over any guests. For extra bonus points, serve with a side of pickles and kettle chips.
