At the Lake Burger

This recipe comes from our very own Laurie Geisel, FoodE Expert at Lunds & Byerlys Eagan and winner of our 20th Anniversary FoodE Expert recipe contest! Laurie shows us what happens when you combine several L&B signature products into one recipe. Simply put? Magic. Magic is what happens.


Let’s start with the Jarlsberg dip. Who knew three simple ingredients could pack such a punch? (Laurie did!) The Jarlsberg’s mild, sweet and nutty flavor, the mayo’s creaminess, the onion’s sweetness — all of the ingredients’ essential characteristics come together and bake in the oven until golden brown. (Pro tip: Jarlsberg is a great melting cheese.) To save all of the resulting deliciousness for the burger only would be foolish. In other words, you’ll want to set some aside for dipping chips, fries, or — dare we say — a spoon?!


The burger patties are made from ground L&B Premium Chuck, Brisket & Short Rib and seasoned with L&B Aged Beef Seasoning. The result is a tender and irresistibly juicy burger that’s full of flavor. It’s 100% worth mentioning that the L&B Dry Aged Beef Seasoning is a magical mix in and of itself — gray sea salt, onion, pepper and a potpourri of herbs, including rosemary, marjoram, thyme, basil, fennel and lavender. (Oh my!) It’s pretty much a seasoning superstar and an easy way to add depth to anything on the grill.


Last, but in no way least, come the warmed L&B Bake-at-Home Ciabatta Rolls slathered in L&B Smoky Chipotle Garnishing Sauce — a tantalizing mix of chipotle peppers, mustard and savory garlic. Once you put all of the elements together between the rolls and garnish with lettuce, tomato and onion, there’s only one thing left to do: take a big ol’ bite, which is guaranteed to be even better than expected.

Ingredients

    L&B Bake-at-Home Ciabatta Rolls
  • 6
    L&B Premium Chuck, Brisket & Short Rib Blend Burgers
  • 1
    tablespoon L&B Dry Aged Beef Seasoning
  • 6
    tablespoons L&B Smoky Chipotle Garnishing Sauce
  • Sliced tomatoes, for garnish
  • Lettuce, for garnish
  • Sliced white onions, for garnish

For the Jarlsberg dip:

  • 2
    cups grated Jarlsberg cheese
  • 2
    cups mayonnaise
  • ¼
    cup grated white onion

Directions

    Heat oven to 350 F.

    To make the Jarlsberg dip: In a large bowl, mix together the cheese, mayonnaise and onions until combined.

    Transfer the mixture to a small casserole dish and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.

    Remove the dip from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

    To make the burgers: Heat a grill or a grill pan to medium-high heat.

    Cut the Ciabatta rolls in half to separate the tops and bottoms. Spread 2 tablespoons of the Jarlsberg dip onto the top half of each roll. Close the rolls and wrap them individually in aluminum foil.

    Place the wrapped rolls top side down on the upper rack of the grill to keep warm. Alternatively, if making the burgers inside, place the wrapped rolls topside down in the heated oven to keep warm.

    Season the burgers on both sides with the L&B Dry Aged Beef Seasoning. Grill the burgers until browned on both sides and cooked through, about 7 minutes per side or until the burgers register 160 F on an instant-read thermometer.

    Remove the rolls from the grill or oven. Unwrap and open them. Spread 1 tablespoon of the L&B Smoky Chipotle Garnishing Sauce on the bottom half of each roll.

    Place one burger on each roll bottom and garnish with the tomatoes, lettuce and onions and finish with the roll tops. Enjoy!
